Tatsing: Ascend
Tatsing: Ascend is a digital adaptation of the traditional Filipino street game Tatsing, bringing its classic mechanics into an interactive computer-based experience. Players compete in a strategic and skill-driven environment inspired by the original game while enjoying enhanced gameplay through modern game design. To provide a more engaging and challenging experience, the game incorporates Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms such as Q-Learning and Fuzzy Rule Based System that power intelligent AI-controlled opponent capable of adapting and responding to player actions.
Game Rules
Phase I: Contest in the Line
- Both players throw their pamato (coin) toward a designated line.
- The goal is to land the pamato as close as possible to the line without crossing it.
- The player whose pamato is closest to the line earns the first turn in Phase II.
- If both pamatos are equally distant from the line or both cross it, the phase is repeated.
Phase II: Main Game
- An odd number of coins (7, 9, or 11) is placed inside a square box at the center of the playing area.
- The winner of Phase I takes the first turn, then players alternate turns.
- During a turn, a player strikes or throws the pamato toward the coins in the box.
- A player earns 1 point (1 coin) if:
- A coin is pushed outside the box, and
- The pamato remains inside the box.
- A successful move grants the player another turn.
- If both the coin and the pamato leave the box:
- The move is invalid,
- No point is awarded,
- The coin is returned to the box, and
- The player's turn ends.
- If no coin is pushed out of the box, the turn passes to the opponent.
- The game continues until all coins have been collected.
- The player with the most collected coins at the end wins the game.
